[mpa] Punks what are they made of?

My understanding is that (originally) they were made out of dung (what kind...I have no idea), bound solidly, and soaked with KNO3.  Nowadays, I do not know if joss sticks are still made by soaking dung with KNO3.  But I do think KNO3 is still involved.

So I got into a little argument with my wife. Which is normal when I do fireworks or even talk about them. Anyway she says that a punk is made of camel poop and I say it is made of sawdust. Can anyone enlighten me on what they are made of? Thanks Ian.
